What started as a cold and foggy morning cleared and warmed up in anticipation of the action of the 5th round of the SCORR Championship Series at the Cornfield 500.
Mike Case in ‘It’s 420 Time’ smoked the field in the Mikey G’s Smokin Café/Mikey’s Emporium Stock Class. Bob Frank was able to Fast Forward into second place over Joel Speck in the Woodchuck Engineering entry.
Norm Anderson was able to pull his Split Personality together long enough to take the win in the Bri-Mic Construction Limited Mod Class. Jason Bifaro continued his consistency as his Thrillbilly took home second. Off the Wall and into third place bounced Wayne Solly in only his second event. Chet Nickerson’s Woodside Warrior battled to fourth with Joe Merecki’s Mud Puppy nipping at his heals in fifth.
Supertruck may not have been faster than a speeding bullet, but it was able to leap over the Anything Automotive Pro Truck class in a single bound to give Mark Noto the win. Tim Howard’s Dazed and Confuzed put on a high flying show for the fans but was only able to capture second place. Pat Winchester made a strong third place run in his Twisted Fate to inch within a point of the fourth place Crazy Horse and Kevin Morrissey. Tony Martinez was Dodgin’ Bullets and hung on to fifth.
The run of the day went to Mike Dewolf in the Limited Mod class with his full roll in the final turn of the third round. Never letting his foot off the gas his battered truck was able to finish without missing a beat.
Keep your eye out for SCORR on TV and in your magazine rack in the coming months. Tim Howard and Tony Martinez were filmed for a pilot for a new grudge match series on SPEED. Dazed and Confuzed was able to out run Dodgin’ Bullets and Tony was forced to bow down and kiss Tim’s lead foot. You will also be able to see Dazed and Confuzed on the cover of the November issue of Off-Road magazine. You may even find Tim reading the article on ‘Awsome Axle Builds’ as he puts his front end back together yet again… Congratulations Tony and Tim!!!
