Winchester Shines Through At Eagle
7/25/09

A brief shower about an hour before the green flag dropped dampened down the track and the skies cleared for what looked like a great night of racing. Unfortunately the rain gods felt their work was not yet done and half way through the first round the skies opened up once again. The torrential downpour made the track a true test of the driver’s talents, but didn’t do anything to dampen the enthusiasm of the SCORR fans. A few umbrellas popped up, but not one person left the stands.
Mike Kroll got his first win of the year and extended his points lead in the Mikey G’s Smokin’ Café/Mikey’s Emporium Stock class. Bob Frank followed up his June win with a strong second place finish with Ken Geary nipping on his heals in 3rd. Rick Murawski and points runner up Mike Paradiso rounded out the top five.

Dan Merecki proved again that he is Ruff & Ready in the mud as he dominated the Bri-Mic Construction Limited Modified class. Dan became the first repeat winner in any of the Obstacle Course classes. Point’s leader Jason Bifaro’s ThrillBilly held on to second place by edging out a hard charging Mud Puppy and Joe Merecki. Norm Anderson’s Split Personality slipped in for forth with the Woodside Warrior of Chet Nickerson settling for fifth.

The Anything Automotive Pro Truck class saw Pat Winchester and Twisted Fate master the mud with the fastest time of the day. Kevin Morrissey’s Cray Horse followed with a close second place. John Mesh returned to SCORR to put in a strong third place finish substituting for the Martinez Brothers in Dodgin’ Bullets. Tim Howard was left Dazed and Confuzed in forth place.

William John speed though the mud drag and too home top honors in the Stock Class, followed by Steve Bauer and Matt John. John Paradiso took home the top honors in Pro Drag.

SCORR will take the month of August off, but will come back strong on September 5 at the Cornfield 500 in Columbus, Pa and back at Eagle Speedway on September 26. Just because SCORR is taking the month off doesn’t mean its drivers are. August 7th you’ll find many of the SCORR all stars at the Cattaraugus County Fair in Little Valley, Ny. If you are in southwestern Pa you can check out others at Bedford Speedway August 7-8 for the Night of Fire and Destruction. Congratulations to our July winners, and good luck to the SCORR drivers in August!!!
