SCORR IN THE MUD AT EAGLE!!! - 6/20/09 |
| |
The SCORR fans showed just how dedicated they truly are as they packed the stands on a rainy Saturday afternoon to see the most entertaining show so far this year. With the muddy track keeping the speeds down the drivers skills were put on display in Round 3 of the 2009 SCORR Championship Tour.
The wet weather didn’t do anything to slow down the mud drag trucks as Eric Schweic ran the new pit in 4.14 sec in his Pro Drag win. Matt John paced the field in the Stock Drag
Newcomer Bob Frank let the way in the Mikey’s Emporium/Mikey G’s Smokin’ Café Stock Class. First timer Rob Congdon’s beginners luck was able to bring him second place money. Hard charging Ken Geary had a strong third place finish followed by Mike Paradiso and new points leader Mike Kroll in fifth.
Dan Merecki’s Ruff and Ready was able to make up for a rough May show and laid down the second fasted run of the day to dominate the Bri Mic Construction Limited Modified Class. Mike Case continued a great rookie season coming in second and just edging out points leader Jason Biffero in Thrill Billy. Chet Nickerson piloted the Woodside Warrior to a forth place finish and second in points while Norm Anderson wasn’t able to get his Split Personality together and had to settle for fifth.
In the closest side by side race in SCORR history Tim Howard’s Dazed And Confused nipped the Crazy Horse of Kevin Morrissey, in his Anything Automotive Pro Trucks debut, by less than 0.2sec. The entire crowd was on its feet cheering this fender to fender battle. Pat Winchester continued his consistency with a third place run in Twisted Fate. Burt Unterburger and Dave Worgren rounded out the top five.
SCORR will be making its first trip to Pennsylvania of 2009 for the Northeast Fair in Pittston Township on June 28 at 5:00. This is a non-points race, featuring SCORR all-stars against the best of the Scranton-Wilks-Berre area. The race is OPEN TO ANYONE!!! All you need is a truck, a seat belt, and a helmet. Contact Tim at (716) 785-2328 for more info.
Eagle Speedway will be hosting its first SCORR night race on July 25. Gates will open at 3:00, with racing starting at 7:00. Camping will be available (no hook ups). BYOB, no glass. Rain date is 7/26 at 2:00pm.

SCORR RETURNS TO EAGLE!!! - 5/23/09 |
| |
“Mad” Mike Paradiso pushed his Blazer to the limit to win the Mikey G’s Smokin’ Café/Mikey’s Emporium Stock Class and take the points lead. Rookie Ken Geary made his first show memorable by pulling out a second place finish and just edging out last month’s winner Rick Murauwski, who had to settle for third. Another rookie, forth place finisher Chuck Heslin had the most exciting run of the day when he came into the final turn with a blazing fast time only to be grabbed by the dirt monster and rolled over. As Heslin’s hood said “pain is temporary”, but his Best Show award will be his forever. We wish him a speed recovery. Cody Cook rounded out the top 5.
“Stormin’ Norman” Anderson paced the Bri Mic Construction Limited Modifieds as his Split Personality held off April winner Kevin Morrissey in Crazy Horse. Jason Bifaro’s consistency continued as his Thrill Billy ran third and moved into the points lead. Chet Nickerson and Mike Dewolf rounded out the top five.
National touring stand out Mark Noto and Super Truck returned to SCORR for the first time in almost a year to set a new track record of 33.72 seconds and claim the Anything Automotive Pro Truck victory. The Bandit’s second place finish was enough to allow Ron Peterson to be the only Obstacle Course drive to maintain the points lead. Pat Winchester’s Twisted Fate, Jocko Martinez’s Dodgin’ Bullets, and Burt Unterburger’s R-13 each moved up one place to finish third, forth, and fifth respectively. Tim Howard was left Dazed and Confused after running the second best time of the day in the first round only to his engin fail at the finish line.
Stock Mud Drag action was won by Joel Speck.
Pro Mud drag saw Eric Schweic’s Six Pak not only become 2009’s first repeat winner in any class, but also set a new drag record of 4.22 seconds. Tony Gernsti came in second with Code Blue followed by John Paradiso.
